Last Sailing Day Autumn 2019

Date added: September 22, 2019

The last day of regular sailing is always a little sad as it signifies that winter is really arrive. However, it was wonderful bright day most of the time with a light breeze and although it looked as if the rain might arrive we were lucky and it stayed away.

As usual the day began with the Alan Harmer Trophy race for volunteers and Platinum sailors with seven competing boats on the water. Tony B was first across the line at the finish, with Vic second and Geoff hard on his heels. It has been very keen sailing this year with the first four places closely contested but much enjoyed.

We managed to run two races in the afternoon with a dropping wind by shortening course on the second race. All 12 of our dinghies were on the water, nine of which were competing – the other three being sailed by volunteers.

Although it is the end of the sailing season we will still be meeting up again for our monthly Mardles. So don’t forget sailors and volunteers are welcome on the second Tuesday of the month at WOBYC. First one being 12th November.
